Mr. Sutton,
87
In reference to your verbal request for a report
on the work of Messrs. Plascott and Corner who were attached
to me for a time.
Mr. Plascott carried out a survey along Queen's Read; his instrument work appeared to be quite good and his work closed satisfactorily with one of my traversos total error of about one in twenty three thousand,
His calculating appeared to be rather slow but no
doubt he had been on rather different work for some time
previous, He might prove satisfactory, but it appeared
to me that he was rather slow with his instrument work and
calculations and at present he is not used to office routine
&c. Possibly additional practice would correct all that
however.
Mr. Corner's traverse of Garden Road I checked
myself and found the instrument work good but the computing
and calculations rather weak.
One error of six or seven inches lay in reducing
the slope distance to the horizontal.

Mr. Corner appeared to run his party quite well,
but the excessive care taken would hinder his progress
materially. I would not be prepared to put Mr. Comer in charge as I do not consider his work sufficiently dependable
(Bd.) C. H. Douglas.
